Waldo

The Nosuch Disco is a Stoke on Trent based artist who makes unique and colourful artwork. Using bold designs, The Nosuch Disco’s work is surreal, quirky and fun with a sense of depth and impact.

For his first published book, The Nosuch Disco undertook a series of workshops to create a narrative that revolved around a social issue relevant to young people.

With help from Unltd, Unity; Young People’s Project, Stoke on Trent’s Uth Service and The Stoke on Trent NHS Primary Care Trust, The Nosuch Disco worked with two groups of young people aged between 8 and 16.

The workshops took place at the Meir Youth Centre and the Queensberry Centre, both in Stoke on Trent. Each week The Nosuch Disco would work with the two focus groups to shape characters, establish storylines, create words & rhymes and generate a world in which these characters could thrive.

Slowly but surely the story took form and began to blossom. When the workshops were over, The Nosuch Disco took the sketches, doodles, stanzas and poems back to the lab, mixed it all up, gave it a polish, put it all in the oven and voilà! Waldo the Worm was born.
